We went to the air show at Willow Run airport in Ypsilanti early this morning. What a great show. Pictures next.

It's not a sonic boom
We walked among the static displays first, and this A400 from the German Air Force dominated the pack. What a beast.
The first set was dedicated to a beautiful collection of heritage military planes, including a set of P-51s (with one Tuskegee Airmen red tail), at least six B-25 Mitchell bombers, and a few B-17 bombers, including this beauty.
The F-35 was probably my favorite part of the show. That plane is nothing short of amazing. And this one was flown by Major Kristin "Beo" Wolfe, the first female pilot on the F-35 demo team. She put on an incredible show. And, no, this photo does not show a sonic boom. Pilots are not allowed to break the sound barrier over land. But they can come close to doing so, and that's what Major Wolfe did on this pass, producing a vapor cone around her F-35 as she passed in front of the crowd.
You think this is a sonic boom – but it’s not (bbc.com)
Great article on the difference (and relation) between vapor cones and sonic booms.
The Blue Angels flew last and gave an amazing show of precision flying.
One and four down, two and three up.
Truly a beautiful and amazing show!
