US ranks first in swearing (popsci.com)

the research found the United States and Great Britain ranked ahead of Australia in terms of using vulgar language online

Fucking-A right. USA!

This research was limited to written communications. I’d love to see an analysis of “everyday speech.” It feels like swearing in conversation has become more accepted over recent years, or at least like it carries less shock value. I still won’t swear when talking to my mother, or mother-in-law, but I’m mostly unfiltered otherwise.

Interestingly enough, I’m very guarded online, to the point that I have a high degree of confidence that the f-bomb above marks the first in my decades-long online presence.

Everything Is a Journey Now (nytimes.com)

Renee and I laugh about the pervasive use of 'journey' these days. This article about the increase in use of the word is pretty interesting.
